Among the people that I’ve seen,
faces depleted of all happiness.
Struggling to bypass the day’s pressure,
alone they transverse in silent agony.
Hibernated earthly tombs for hours at a time,
a time of needful desires.
Giving up dreams in order to survive.
Eight hours of slavery for a miser’s wage,
symptoms of anger flash in their dull eyes.
Frustrated at the collar around their shiny throats.
Chains force them to remain motionless.
Double shift in their plastic families,
grabbing shadows to dispel bills.
Closure of the mind to independence
leads to an early grave,
divorce rates become fashionable
compared to mortgage rates.
Hollow souls in frenzy for corporate dope,
corporeal brown nosing is the answer.
Empty veins suck up the water,
disbelief apparent in unemployment lines.
Shuffling in the world of emotions,
time kills the hidden egos.
Empathetic to them,
I in turn will not partake in these nightmares.
