Chapter 65 - Page 1 of 4

Northwest Washington DC, March, 2078, Thursday…

The call came in. In addition to the time, there was a name and address. Caitlin received the information from the safe house and gave thumbs up to Dan Summers. They both sat in the van that constituted the FBI command center. This was the most important sting operation she had ever run.

After she dispatched agents to bring in Padraig O'Neil, they were silent for nearly half an hour as they put their plan into action. Then came a few moments of waiting and wondering.

"You look worried," said Dan Summers who sat at one of the com stations that was connected with one of the SWATs. The display in front of him showed green figures moving jerkily against a black background as the camera on one of the SWAT members helmets fed video back of the SWAT moving into position around the National Cathedral on Wisconsin Avenue.

"Anxious, not worried. Give me a break here. I'll look like a fool if this doesn't go down like my informant says it would."

"It wouldn't be the first time it's happened, so get over it. We've got this covered. Just watch the damn feeds."

Two other agents manned feeds from the Islamic Center on Massachusetts Avenue and the Mormon Temple off of I-495 in Kensington, Maryland. All the Mundo Domini targets were in the same general area. The first two were in DC Northwest, while the Mormon Temple was just northwest of Rock Creek Park.

"Fortunately everything's happening at night," said Caitlin. "They're just going to wire everything up so they can later set off the explosives by remote. So right now we won't have any worshippers to worry about. I'm more worried that we'll be outmanned and outgunned. It's happened before."

"Don't worry. They're not expecting us."

"I hope you're right."

It went down first at the Cathedral. In some ten minutes the FBI SWAT spotted dark figures disembarking from two vans. Caitlin activated her mike.

"All right, guys. Be careful. Let's go!"

A lethal firefight broke out that could probably be heard in most of the streets surrounding the Cathedral. Almost immediately the Mosque and the Temple also turned into battle zones.

"They've got some serious firepower!" yelled one of the SWAT members at the Cathedral. "We've got people down."

"Keep them pinned as best you can. The fly boys are coming." Caitlin nodded to another officer. "I want hellfire to reign down on those bastards!"

Six helicopters, two at each site, swooped down on the Mundo Domini positions and opened fire. Rapid fire machine guns turned the area around the six vans into Swiss cheese.
